Dual-Energy
X-ray Absorptionmetry (DXA) is one of the methods used when assessing a
person's body composition. This method is used mostly by medical facilities. To
measure total body fat mass, fat distribution pattern, and bone density, a very
low-dose beam of x-ray energy is used. This test is also good for determining
whether a person will be at risk for osteoporosis. The standard error of
estimate for this test is 1.8%.
